Aion 2 · [NA - East] Israphel · Asmodian RP Legion

We endure.
We rise.

Horizon is a multi-gaming RP and social community. We were first founded in the now-defunct MMORPG, "Ashes of Creation," to provide a reprieve from the influx of toxicity that is now endemic in online gaming spaces. In Aion 2, we hope to provide a casual gaming experience alongside a medium-to-heavy roleplay experience. Though the game was not designed with RPers in mind, we are learning to navigate its systems and to make the most of the gorgeous reawakening of the world of Atreia. To learn more about our legion lore, click here. The foundations of The Horizon Legion

Legion Lore

After several long years of serving various military legions, an Asmodian Daeva grew tired of the seemingly endless struggle, specifically in the Abyss. Wanting instead to lend their talents and immortality to the common people of Asmodae, it became apparent that the best course of action was to found a legion specifically tasked with service to Asmodae. While this could still involve some skirmishing in the Abyss, the call of duty rings loudly to those who know and live the harsh reality of Asmodae, both within and outside of the Bulwark. With Balaur hordes hunting down Daevas and humans alike, it stands to reason that a rare sort ought to stand vigilant against the incursion.Enter: The Horizon LegionCalling upon Daevas* of all manner of talents and motivation, The Horizon Legion seeks to amass a variety of skilled fighters, craftsmen, artists, healers, bureaucrats, merchants, and more to unite behind one simple ambition: To demonstrate Asmodian resilience within and beyond the Bulwark! To join, seek out or contact Isceroth Atrios II via Selvis or Shugo mail (preferred).* Ordinary humans and other allied Cogni welcome.

Above all, mutual respect.

Our Ethos

RESPECT
Respect is paramount to Horizon. We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for discriminatory comments, hate speech, mean-spirited "humor", or anything that would dehumanize or alienate people for their immutable characteristics.COMMUNICATION
Communication is key. It is the first line of defense against escalating conflicts. People are imperfect, and disagreements may arise. We expect members to communicate honestly and maturely with one another, and to avoid making hasty assumptions.ON DISCOURSE
Handling discourse should involve a "Steward" or "Delegate" if direct communication has failed. To that end, these volunteers will always try to approach any discourse with an open mind. If you are unsatisfied with the resolution of discourse, we will work together to find a solution. We are not in the business of giving up on improvement when something is bothering any of our Cohorts.ANTI-HARASSMENT
Harassment is absolutely not tolerated. This extends to interactions outside of the guild and the game. Ashes is a PvP game, and our Cohorts may form rivalries with other players, but those should never cross the line into griefing and harassment. Justified PvP is not harassment, as long as boundaries and lines are respected. We will never have a KoS list. If we are harassed, we will defend ourselves, but will not resort to counter-harassment.

PRIVACY
Privacy is a quality of life item that we want to preserve on this server. We ask that our Cohorts please always be discerning with what they choose to share about themselves. Do not share anyone else's private information if entrusted with it.ON NSFW CONTENT
NSFW content is strongly discouraged. Though we are an 18+ guild, many of our members may not be somewhere private while chatting. As such, we ask that pornographic, extremely violent/bloody, or intentionally repulsive imagery never be shared to our Discord.SAFETY
Safety is important to Horizon. For the safety of minors, we do not accept members under the age of 18. Additionally, we strongly encourage any Cohort, and any person who has had dealings with our guild, to immediately bring any safety concerns to any trusted Steward or Delegate in Horizon.ON POLITICS & RELIGION
We believe that real world politics and religion can be divisive topics. While we will not police harmless opinion, we do not recommend trying to navigate these topics in a larger, more diverse group, as opinions are likely to vary. (Regarding harmful opinions, please see our first rule on RESPECT.) It is best not to discuss these things outside of DMs or private off-server voice chats, for harmony's sake.IF THIS SOUNDS GOOD TO YOU
Consider joining! You can jump into our discord as a visitor or applicant!

Ready to seek out the horizon?

How to Join

As we wait for free server transfers, we currently have two legions: One on Israphel (our intended server), and one on Ereshkigal. Both are NA-East.

To Join on Israphel:
● In game, press L to access the Legion directory.
● Search for "Horizon," which should be under the High Commander "Isceroth."
● Apply to join.

To Join on Ereshkigal:
● In game, press L to access the Legion directory.
● Search for "Horizon," which should be under the High Commander "Ånei."
● Join with the password Nemon. (Case sensitive.)

We currently have things set up like this because it is less likely that the High Commander or an Elite Officer will be online when you join.

At present, our Discord is still set up mostly for Ashes. We are trying to adjust it in order to accommodate Aion 2, and a few other games. This is due to our present membership all finding new games and hosting Horizon branches on those games. When permissions and sections are set for Aion 2, the Discord link will be available.

HORIZON

How our (OOC) management structure functions

Leadership Structure

Horizon is a co-founded, co-led community. In Horizon, we have three distinct roles: Steward, Delegate, and Cohort.Stewards
Stewards are volunteer leaders. Stewards need to approach "leadership" collaboratively, and consider all things in the interest of the community and its members. This position does entail some work, and is not merely for passing down decrees. Stewards handle everything from day-to-day moderation, conflict resolution, recruitment, creation and coordination of legion-wide events, and communication. We'll work together to better refine what is expected of all Stewards. There will likely be hiccups, establishing our community and finding a good rhythm working together. Many of us might not have collaborated in the past, despite coming from the same original AoC guild. Stewards need to be mature, accommodating, and driven. We can make some decisions outright, but many things will likely be fully collaborative at the start. We presently don't have specialized roles that would focus specifically on certain types of game content, but that may become necessary down the line. All community restructuring will be done as a team. Delegates can be brought into the process as well, where it seems fitting. Because we are relatively new, and this structure is still being built, clearer expectations can and will be established over time. This position is currently being assigned to those who have determined themselves able and willing to take on the added responsibilities of community leadership. Going forward, we might begin to encourage more to apply to the position, and will review future appointments as a council.

Current Stewards: DimmerMeerkat, rainnfarred

Delegates
Delegates are similarly volunteers, and have some basic moderation capabilities. They are willing to assist with cohesion, minimizing or getting out in front of needless drama, and provide some guidance to other Cohorts. At present, this position has also been built completely of volunteers who stepped forward as willing and able to accept the responsibilities of moderation. The bulk of the work, however, should still be on the shoulders of Stewards, as Delegates will be less in the weeds.Delegates will also be the ones to occupy any potential gap between Stewards and non-ranking Cohorts. If a Cohort has grievances with Stewardship, but doesn't want to approach them or fears they will not be heard if they do, then Delegates are encouraged to advocate for them. Hopefully this part of the job never becomes necessary, and Cohorts feel secure and confident in approaching Stewards, but provisions for this exist just in case.In the future, Delegates will be appointed only by non-Steward, non-Delegate Cohorts. A nomination can be brought up at any time, and a public poll will be posted leading to the appointment. Relevant channels will be established when we've reached that point of stability and are ready to put that into motion.

Current Delegates: fitzwarg, rhapsoddyy, sparrowcosplay, _valdin

Cohorts
All members, including Delegates and Stewards, are considered Cohorts. This essentially means that you are a member of Horizon. Delegates and Stewards are encouraged to remember that they too are Cohorts, and all others should feel empowered to contribute to the guild as they see fit, and indulge in what we have to offer.Cohorts, representing the whole of the guild, will all be tasked with upholding a positive reputation for Horizon. Everything we do in the public sphere with our guild name floating above our heads or preceding our Discord names in other servers, reflects on all of us.Any questions about this structure can be inquired about with any of the listed Stewards and Delegates.

Chronicles

As the legion progresses, ongoing storylines will be chronicled here. As of yet, the legion is still in its infancy, and there is nothing of note yet to chronicle.

Events

Weekly Legion Conspiracy
Legion meetings, hereto known as the "Legion Conspiracy," are a recurring, in-character event. Events such as this have been utilized by RP groups in the past to bring characters into the Legion in-character, and to provide regular opportunities for open, in-game RP. The schedule is subject to change depending on most willing participants' availability.

Currently this is scheduled for Saturdays at 8:00 PM Central / 9:00 PM Eastern

The illustrious, slightly chaotic Discord server!

Discord

Our Discord was originally founded and organized for Ashes of Creation, which is no more. Thus, our Discord members have taken to playing various games, including Aion 2. As such, the Discord cannot be made to only accommodate Aion 2, but it is set up to encourage socializing and participating in Discord-based RP.

There is an application to join, which is simply to ensure that you understand what our values are as a community, and to better get to know you. We have very active Stewards and Delegates who will approve your application ASAP, as long as there are no glaring red flags.
